EMILY VAN ORMAN

About
Me!
I’m a glass-half-full kind of gal, a community-first marketer, and a people person to my core
I’m originally from Portland, OR, and a proud University of Oregon grad (sco ducks), but as my friends like to say, I’m an honorary Californian!
My career started being a Tinder U Ambassador in college, where I discovered just how powerful marketing can be when it’s rooted in community. Since then, I’ve spent the past 5+ years leading marketing initiatives at startups, agencies, and fast-moving brands like Tinder, Dispo, ROomie, and Home From College. building nationwide ambassador programs from the ground up to launching influencer campaigns, leading social and email strategy, and bringing experiential events to life — I’ve done it all. At early-stage startups, I’ve often been a one-woman show, wearing every hat and constantly finding ways to optimize and deliver results.
I’m the person who gives it my all — whether it’s building a 67-student ambassador program in 90 days, running all marketing solo at early-stage startups, or qualifying for the Boston Marathon on my first attempt after just 7 weeks of training. I thrive when I’m creating opportunities for others to grow and building brands people genuinely feel connected to.
What drives me? Impact through connection. I love bringing people together, mentoring early career talent, and creating spaces where ideas (and people) can take off. I lead with kindness, show up with infectious energy, and believe in doing the small things that make a big difference — even if it’s just picking up trash on my morning beach walk.
Outside of work, I thrive on movement, being outdoors, and stopping to smell the roses every chance I get. I recently rediscovered my love for running — I won my first 5K in December, qualified for Boston in my first marathon in March, and ran a 1:23 half marathon in May (6:20/mile pace!). When I’m not running, you’ll find me exploring new coffee shops, snapping pics of disco balls, or catching Beach sunsets with friends.
